About Kim

I am a certified meditation teacher with a long time personal practice. I have been studying meditation and mindfulness since 1985, initially as part of my college studies as a Japanese and Chinese history major. While I started my studies out of intellectual curiosity, meditation soon became a spiritual practice that has saved me more than once.

My teachers have included a combination Jesuit Priest and Zen Sensei, a medical doctor who studied with Thich Nhat Hanh in Plum Village, Susan Piver through the Open Heart Project, and Ralph De La Rosa through the Amplify Teacher Training. I’ve also studied secular Mindfulness, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), the Self-Compassion  teachings of Kristin Neff (both tender and fierce), Tara Brach’s teachings on radical acceptance of our emotions and experiences, and the Loving Kindness practices of Sharon Salzberg. I’ve also recently started studying and practicing Mindful Art, including Neurographic Art.

My lineage is a rich and privileged one, and one that I do not take for granted. I am so grateful and so honored to share these practices with you. I do this through online and in person mindfulness and meditation classes, online bookclubs, and in person retreats.

I also frequently teach and train those in the helping professions (lawyers, social workers, conflict resolution professionals primarily) on the topics of trauma informed mindfulness and secondary trauma through Intentional Legal, which I founded in 2020. I speak at conferences and continuing education programs for social workers, lawyers, and conflict resolution professionals.

The teachings are universal; the transmission in all its human  weakness is mine. All credit due to the original teachers given throughout this website and the courses.
